The Kansas Jayhawks are one of the notoriously worst, if not the worst, teams in the Power Five. Yet, head coach David Beaty took advantage of an early opportunity last year to notch a win against Rhode Island. This is a similar opportunity against Southeast Missouri.

KU’s other two out of conference matchups come against Group of Five teams. Central Michigan and Ohio could be bowl teams that defeat Kansas. Southeast Missouri is the easiest opposition, by far, on tap for the Jayhawks.

This would not be the first time that Kansas lost to an FCS team. Kansas lost on a last second mishap against South Dakota State to start the 2015 campaign. South Dakota State is a better football program than Southeast Missouri.

Both Jayhawk quarterbacks should get playing time. Peyton Bender got most of the snaps to finish the 2016 season. Carter Stanley will get some reps as well. An upset is unlikely but something that could happen to the Jayhawks.
