3. Jake Browning throws four touchdowns

For Jake Browning to continue his Heisman campaign, he needs to put up huge numbers in the first few weeks. He tossed 43 touchdown passes last year and could do even better. Browning threw three touchdowns against Rutgers in the 2016 season opener.

An early lead could mean some playing time for junior backup quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels. While Browning is still in the game he could get some opportunities to spread the ball to one of his many targets. Dante Pettis, Ty Jones, and Chico McClatcher all have huge opportunities in this game.

The only thing that could hold Browning back is the rushing attack. Both Myles Gaskin and Lavon Coleman could eat up red zone touches. Each rusher can get Washington into the end zone when they get close. Browning’s passing attempts might drop more than expected.

Depending on how many points the Rutgers offense is able to put up, we should see Browning in the game at least until the third quarter. Carta-Samuels might not see his first action until the late third or early fourth quarter.
