Nick Saban loads up his roster with elite talent every year. Why can’t Alabama football find any kickers? Twitter roasted the Tide specialists on Saturday.
It just doesn’t make sense. The Crimson Tide continue to churn out NFL-caliber running backs, linebackers, defensive ends, receivers and everything in between. Why can’t they find a place kicker that they can trust?
There is something to be said for guys that either have or don’t have that clutch gene. Not everyone can be a rockstar under pressure, but why does it always feel like Alabama’s kickers can’t get it done. Clutch or not, that’s been a hole on the Alabama roster since Nick Saban came to town.
It’s forgivable to stink at placekicking when your defense is suffocating and your offense can move the ball at will. But one of these days the Tide are going to be trailing (probably) and need a field goal to win or stay alive. What happens then?
Senior Andy Pappanastos was the latest victim of the #BamaKickers curse. He missed one field goal against Florida State and Twitter started the roast. Then he missed another. Regardless of the outcome of the game, social media was extremely vocal and had plenty to say about the comedy that has become the Alabama kicker situation.

It has always amazed me how Bama can have such a great recruiting class, but still can't find a good kicker. #BamaKickers

It was only two missed field goals. The first came at a time the magnitude was still uncertain. The first miss came on a 42 yard attempt on Alabama’s first drive. The next came after the Tide had extended their the lead to 21-7 at the start of the fourth quarter. The misses didn’t cost the Tide the game, but you certainly wouldn’t know it from a quick scan of your timeline.
