After finishing the 2016 college football season with an 8-5 record, here are 5 bold predictions about how Auburn football‘s 2017 season will turn out.

2017 should be a great year for Auburn. This team finally have enough talent to challenge for a third national title. The Tigers return the vast majority of their 2016 starters and they have a new face at quarterback. Former Baylor Bears quarterback, Jared Stidham will be taking over the reigns of Gus Malzahn’s offense this year.

In Stidham, Malzahn is getting a quarterback who’s seemingly a perfect fit to run his offense. Stidham’s addition is already drawing rave reviews from around the country, with some pundits even declaring him a Heisman Trophy candidate prior to the season. If he’s in fact able to improve Auburn’s offense, which ranked number 43 in the nation last year, the Tigers could seriously make a push for a spot in the playoff.

Auburn’s Week 2 bout against No. 5 Clemson will show fans just how much improved the team is over the 2016 campaign. If Auburn can defeat Clemson on the road, the season suddenly turns into a mad dash to the 2017 Iron Bowl. With that in mind here are five bold predictions for Auburn’s 2017 football season.
