College Football Rankings 2017: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 1

Alex Hornibrook looked like the answer that Wisconsin has longed for him to be at quarterback since last year. The redshirt sophomore completed 15 of his 23 attempts against Utah State in the home opener at Camp Randall Stadium, throwing for 244 yards and three touchdowns. It balanced a committee effort from the backfield that produced 234 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
Kent Myers completed plenty of passes against the Badgers secondary, which could be cause for concern. But he also threw three interceptions and no touchdown passes, as Wisconsin’s defense demonstrated a bend-but-don’t-break dominance under promoted coordinator Jim Leonhard. The Badgers also recovered a Gerold Bright fumble to win the turnover battle decisively.
They could lose position to an interdivisional Big Ten foe, but the Badgers are still top-10 quality. Next week they welcome Lane Kiffin and Florida Atlantic to Madison for what should be another relatively straightforward victory. Look for Paul Chryst and offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph to continue evolving their platoon running game.
