College Football: Grading each top 10 team’s Week 1 performance
No. 7 Oklahoma beat UTEP 56-7
Offense: A+
Defense: A
Overall: A-
Baker Mayfield had a sensational start to the 2017 season. The man had only one incompletion all game and threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns. It wasn’t just Mayfield who dominated. The offense finished with almost 500 passing yards, and 180 rushing yards. I have been singing the praises of Oklahoma State all year. Now, it’s time
Oklahoma finished with an A on defense because it played a bad football team and treated UTEP as such. So many times we see supposedly good teams have lapses defensively and allow bad teams score 21-24 points. In fact, the Sooners’ defense allowed the Miners less than 180 yards of offense.
Overall, Oklahoma was dominant and impressive. As a result, I would not be surprised if Oklahoma gives Ohio State fits next week.
