No. 6 Penn State beat Akron 52-0

Offense: A
Defense: A+
Overall: A

My other national championship pick had a superb day as well. I know they were playing Akron, but they made them look like they were playing Akron. Saquon Barkley looked like the best back in the country. He rushed for 172 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns.

I was impressed with Trace McSorley as well. I know I’m giving McSorley a pass for the interception, but the kid is Johnny Manziel. He is occasionally going to have some bad plays, but he makes so many outstanding plays it makes it all worth it. McSorley still finished 18-of-25 for 280 yards and two touchdowns.

The Penn State defense was outstanding as well. They allowed less than 100 yards rushing and passing. In addition, and most importantly, the defense put up a doughnut (Giving up zero points).

Overall, I couldn’t be any more pleased with what I saw from Penn State. They played like the best team in the Big Ten in Week 1.
