Louisville Football: 5 overreactions from win over Purdue
5. The Heisman is still Lamar Jackson’s to lose
When Jackson won the Heisman Trophy, he was one of the most overwhelming favorites in a few years. Any quarterback that puts up more than 5,000 total yards and 51 touchdowns is almost guaranteed to bring home the hardware.
Jackson showed us again that he is still the most polarizing player in the country. He racked up 485 total yards and two touchdowns. Jackson also did not turn the ball over once against Purdue. The team around him does need to step up quite a bit.
Reggie Bonnafon had the second most rushing yards behind Jackson, with 33 compared to 107 for Jackson. Louisville has a good receiving corps but not a great one. Wide receivers Jaylen Smith and Dez Fitzpatrick led the Cardinals in receiving yards with more than 200 combined and one touchdown.
