3. Good receiving corps

If Hugh Freeze could do anything right, it was recruiting offensive talent. Whether it be former receivers Laquon Treadwell or Quincy Adeboyejo or tight end Evan Engram, Ole Miss always had skilled targets to work with. Chad Kelly and Bo Wallace were both spoiled.

Patterson has some talented players in the receiving corps to give the ball to. Sophomore A.J. Brown had a huge performance against South Alabama. Brown caught eight passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns.

The presumed primary target for Patterson was Van Jefferson who had a quiet game in Week 1. Jefferson should pick up his performance in Week 2. D.K. Metcalf and DaMarkus Lodge combined for more than 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Patterson has all the support he needs in the receiving corps to be successful. For a QB to win the Heisman, he needs a solid group of skill position players around him. That’s exactly what Patterson has.
