The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lost in a game they should have won, so the loss won’t be held against them in the power rankings, at least this week anyways. They outplayed the Volunteers at every facet of the game sans turnovers and a blocked field goal.

The Yellow Jackets have a star in the making in quarterback TaQuon Marshall. Marshall broke a few school records in his debut as starter. He ran the ball 44 times for 249 rushing yards and five touchdowns, all new records, in a double-overtime thriller.

Georgia Tech led for the entire game before things begin to slip away from them in the fourth quarter. Although, most of this loss can be blamed on risk-taking, which is understandable.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ran the ball for 535 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, so why not go for two and the win? Things didn’t work out in their favor this go around after two turnovers came back to haunt them in the end.

The defense did allow a pair of 100-yard performers in Marquez Callaway (four receptions, 115 receiving yards, two touchdowns) and running back John Kelly (19 carries, 128 rushing yards, four touchdowns). Kelly scored the go-ahead touchdown in the second-overtime on a two-yard run.

This week the Yellow Jackets face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Expect more electrifying plays from Marshall and company in what should be a route.
