The Miami Hurricanes stay in fifth place in the power rankings for now, although it’s a nice touch to have a turnover chain on defense for extra motivation. I’m sure Uncle Luke is proud.

The Hurricanes made quick work of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, although the defense allowed 350 total yards of offense and 20 first downs in the game.

The turnover chain was put to good use though as the Hurricanes forced two turnovers in the game.

In the end, the Miami Hurricanes did only allow 13 points in the game, which is a good sign. They didn’t allow any passing touchdowns and surrendered just 229 passing yards.

Miami’s offense looked good under the direction of first-year starter Malik Rosier. Rosier finished 17-for-28 (60.7 percent) with 217 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.

He spread the ball around well among his receivers, although the team was without Ahmmon Richards. Darrell Langham, Lawrence Cager and Braxton Berrios each had a touchdown reception in the game.

The running backs also had strong performances. Mark Walton had 16 carries for 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Travis Horner had 11 carries for 108 rushing yards. Both Walton and Horner averaged over nine rushing yards per carry.
