The Wake Forest Demon Deacons picked up where they left off last season in their 51-7 win over the Presbyterian Blue Hose. It was the Cam Serigne show in the first half and Greg Dortch show in the second half as the Demon Deacons cruised to victory behind the arm of quarterback John Wolford.

Wolford threw two touchdown passes a piece to Serigne and Dortch. Serigne had two catches for 34 receiving yards while Dortch caught four receptions for 55 receiving yards.

The Demon Deacons looked a lot smoother on offense than last season, that’s for sure. Wolford looked comfortable all game long in throwing 107 passing yards and three passing touchdowns and rushing for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Arkeem Byrd led all running backs with 75 rushing yards. Isaiah Robinson had 49 rushing yards and Cade Carney had 39 rushing yards.

Defensively, the Demon Deacons kept the shutout intact until the fourth quarter, when second-string guys were subbed in. The defensive unit allowed 207 rushing yards but just 41 passing yards in the game. Linebacker Justin Strnad looks like a star in the making for the Demon Deacons. The redshirt sophomore had four tackles, two tackles for loss and an interception for Wake Forest in the win.

The Demon Deacons will look to start 1-0 in ACC play when they travel to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts to face Boston College this Saturday. Look for a shakeup in the power rankings next week.
