Take a look at the rest of the AP Top 25 Poll from Week 2.
Trending Up
No. 8 Michigan (+3): Michigan didn’t have a difficult time taking down Florida in the season opener down in Texas. The Wolverines’ defense looks as good as any in college football despite having to replace 10 starters.
No. 5 Oklahoma (+2): Baker Mayfield got his Heisman campaign off to a tremendous start, beating down UTEP senselessly. He went 19-for-20 through the air.
No. 20 Washington State (+4): Mike Leach’s offenses continue to put big-time points on the board, including in a Week 1 victory over Montana State.
No. 18 Virginia Tech (+3): Beating rival West Virginia in a classic opener was impressive. Doing so in freshman quarterback Josh Jackson’s first start was even better.
No. 24 Notre Dame (N/A): The Fighting Irish have gone from unranked to No. 24 following a 4-8 season. If this team can build on that momentum, watch out.
Trending Down
No. 10 Florida State (-7): The Seminoles lost to Alabama, and it was really all that close. Deondre Francois is out for the season and Florida State’s title hopes are up in the air.
No. 6 USC (-2): The Trojans won their opener, 49-31, against Western Michigan, but voters were not impressed. Probably because they were dead-locked with the MAC foe at home until the fourth quarter.
No. 21 South Florida (-2): Two close losses against visibly inferior opponents has forced Charlie Strong’s squad out of the top 20.
