Winner: The Big Ten Conference

It’s a little odd to put a whole conference in the winners’ portion of this week’s edition of the AP Poll winners and losers but with four teams currently in the top-10, it’s worth mentioning.

The Ohio State Buckeyes remained at No. 2 in the rankings. Penn State moved up two spots to No. 4. The Michigan Wolverines moved up three spots, leapfrogging the Wisconsin Badgers in the process, to the No. 8 spot. The Badgers stayed idle at No. 9.

The Big Ten conference had four teams finish in the top-10 to finish the 2016 regular season. It will be interesting to see how the rankings shake out when conference play starts in the Big Ten.

The Buckeyes have to face the Nittany Lions (Oct. 28) and Wolverines (Nov. 25). The Nittany Lions face the Wolverines (Oct. 21) and Buckeyes in back-to-back weeks.

Meanwhile, the Badgers only have to face the Michigan Wolverines (Nov. 18).

It won’t be smooth sailing for everybody in the Big Ten but based on how schedules look, Wisconsin could very easily come out on the positive side of the equation when conference championships get here.

The Buckeyes face fifth-ranked Oklahoma in Columbus this week. So, expect another shake up next week in the top-10 regardless.
