NFL Mock Draft 2018: Top 3 QBs with best chance to be No. 1 pick
Even with a down performance in Week 1, USC superstar quarterback Sam Darnold is still on this list. USC took until the second half to find their groove. Running back Ronald Jones II stole the spotlight away from Darnold, though.
Jones II rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns. However, the emergence of Jones II could open up the field and take some pressure off Darnold’s shoulders. Darnold threw 289 yards and two interceptions against Western Michigan.
Yet, Darnold did manage one touchdown on the day, using his legs to get into the end zone. Wide receiver Deontay Burnett was Darnold’s main target. Burnett caught seven passes for 142 yards. Steven Mitchell Jr. and Burnett should be USC’s best receivers moving forward.
Next: Stock up or down: Quarterbacks in Week 1
USC could slip down in the AP Top 25 rankings this week. If Darnold gets back to his usual ways in Week 2, the Trojans will move back up. However, USC faces the No. 14 Stanford Cardinal in Week 2 which could be their toughest test of the season.
