Michigan State had a pretty solid victory over Bowling Green last week, 35-10. Can it continue winning against Western Michigan this week? The Spartans are seven-point favorites.

This is not the same Western Michigan team that a year ago went undefeated in the regular season and became one of the year’s best stories with PJ Fleck “Rowing the Boat”. That team probably wishes it had a shot at last year’s Spartans as it probably would have been a sure win. However, this year’s team still has a chance.

No. 1, the Broncos are not going to be intimidated by a Power Five team. This past week, they gave USC everything they had and the Trojans needed a big fourth quarter to win. Second, the Broncos’ rushing attack is pretty good with three guys that will get quality time in the backfield. LeVante Bellamy was the best of the bunch against USC, rushing for 102 yards on just nine carries. Finally, I’m just not convinced Michigan State is back yet. It’s still too early to tell.

In 10 meetings, Western Michigan has never beaten Michigan State. Saturday is a good opportunity to get its first victory. The Broncos are out to prove they are not ready to leave the national spotlight just yet.
