Oklahoma Football: 5 reasons the Sooners will beat Ohio State
4. Offensive line experience
One of the strengths on the Oklahoma Sooners’ offense is their offensive line. They returned all of their starters on their offensive line from a year ago.
Add to that the abilities of tight end Mark Andrews and you see why there could be a reason to panic if you’re a Buckeyes fan this weekend.
The offensive line is led by redshirt junior left tackle Orlando Brown, the Big 12’s Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2016. Brown was the first sophomore to win the award last season since it’s establishment in 2006. He was also a second team AP All-American and first team All-Big 12 selection. Brown has 27 starts under his belt at left tackle entering Saturday’s contest and surrendered one sack last year.
Redshirt sophomore right tackle Bobby Evans and junior left guard Ben Powers are the Oklahoma Sooners other decorated lineman. They return as potential All-Big 12 selections this season. Evans started in all 12 games he appeared in while Powers started in 10 of 11 contests last season.
The offensive line saw how the Buckeyes’ defensive front struggled early against the Hoosiers last week and should use that their advantage. Ohio State did have five sacks in the game but the Sooners experience comes into play this week.
