2. Buckeyes receivers unproven
If one thing was evident in the Ohio State season opener, it was their lack of experience in the receiving corp. The Buckeyes largely struggled with their passing attack until late in the game against the Hoosiers.
Granted, the Buckeyes did score on three long passing touchdowns in the second half, but it took them awhile to find their rhythm on offense, something could cost them against Oklahoma this Saturday.
Parris Campbell, Johnnie Dixon and Binjimen Victor all caught three passing touchdowns from quarterback J.T. Barrett in the second half, which is fine and good. Campbell scored his first collegiate touchdown reception on a 74-yard run-and-catch to the endzone. He caught 13 receptions for 121 receiving yards in 2016.
Dixon scored on a similar play for 59 yards. It was also his first collegiate touchdown reception. He had six catches for 26 receiving yards last season. Victor caught an 11-yard reception for a touchdown in the game. He caught
The inexperience is evident among the Ohio State receiving corps and the Sooners should use that to their advantage.
All of Barrett’s touchdown passes came in the second half. If the Sooners can hold him at bay for the first half of football, things could get interesting in a hurry in Columbus this weekend.
