1. Baker Mayfield will be the best quarterback on the field

Last year’s game will be in the back of quarterback Baker Mayfield’s mind all night long and that should be a good thing for the outcome.

Mayfield was 17-for-32 (53.1 percent) passing with 226 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions in last year’s 21-point loss in Norman. It was Mayfield’s lowest quarterback rating of the season (120.6) and it came at the most inopportune time.

Now with new slew of offensive weapons at his disposal and a renewed focus under Lincoln Riley, Mayfield should turn a corner this week and lead his team to victory.

He was nearly perfect passing 19-for-20 for 329 passing yards and three passing touchdowns in their season opener against UTEP.

Tight end Mark Andrews emerged last week as a viable threat in the passing game as well. He had seven receptions for 134 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Graduate transfer wide receiver Jeff Badet had a strong debut as well with four catches for 91 receiving yards. Badet caught 82 receptions for 1,385 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns for the Kentucky Wildcats as a three-year starter. He’s the obvious wild card in this week’s top-five matchup.

However, it’s all on Baker Mayfield to make good decisions and limit his mistakes. His pick-six to linebacker Jerome Baker early in last year’s game proved costly in the long run.

The pressure will be on for a strong performance from Mayfield this Saturday night and he should deliver a victory for the Oklahoma Sooners as a result.
