1. Will Grier continues building Heisman campaign

The Will Grier hype in Morgantown started long before the kickoff of this college football season. Grier received near the same level of hype as Auburn quarterback and former Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham. Both quarterbacks are expected to do great things this season.

Throwing for more than 370 yards and three touchdowns while facing a top 25 team and top 10 type secondary is something that shows greatness. That’s what Grier did while facing the Hokies. He could start building some real momentum for a Heisman campaign soon.

For Grier to even be though of as a Heisman finalist he would have to lead West Virginia to at least an 11-win season. He would also have to take the Mountaineers to the Big 12 Championship Game.

Both are realistic accomplishments for West Virginia. They have the talent necessary to compete with teams like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Kansas State. Some games might even favor the Mountaineers. However, it all comes down to Grier and how he leads this team. If nothing else, he’ll have a huge game against ECU this week.
