The college football season is off and going, but it’s not all positive vibes for every student-athlete this season.

The 2017 college football season is finally underway. While Week One was without many upset victories, the injury bug still struck for a few teams.

Season-ending injuries have hit a few programs already as top-ranked matchups are still looming on the schedule.

The Florida State Seminoles were hit the hardest with the loss of quarterback Deondre Francois. Francois is out for the season with a torn patella tendon injury.

Francois’ injury has dashed Florida State’s playoff chances as true freshman quarterback  James Blackman looks to keep things on the up and up.

As more teams have top-ranked matchups, here’s a look at teams affected by injury this week.

QB Tyrrell Pigrome, Maryland

Quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome had a strong game against the Texas Longhorns in Week One, but his season was cut short after he left the game due to injury.

Pigrome is out for remainder of the season with a torn ACL. He threw for 175 passing yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown before going down with the injury.

He will be replaced by true freshman quarterback Kasim Hill. Hill fared well in replacement of Pigrome last week. He went 3-for-3 for 44 passing yards while also rushing for 14 yards and a touchdown.

The Terps host Towson this weekend.

WR Jauan Jennings, Tennessee

Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings season ended before it even began in 2017. He left the Volunteers’ game against Georgia Tech in the first half with a wrist injury to never return.

Jennings, projected to be the Vols’ No. 1 receiver this season, will miss the remainder of the season with a dislocated wrist. His replacement hasn’t been found yet but look for Marquez Callaway to step up.had four receptions for 115 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

He had four receptions for 115 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets in Week One.

TE DeAndre Goolsby, Florida

Florida Gators tight end DeAndre Goolsby is out indefinitely and he didn’t even know until he found out on Twitter.

Goolsby suffered a leg injury in the Gators’ game against the Michigan Wolverines.

He didn’t record any catches in the game but he did catch 38 passes for 342 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns in 2016. The Florida offense is currently in shambles so the loss of Goolsby certainly doesn’t help.

The Gators face Northern Colorado this week.

CB Jaire Alexander, Louisville

The Louisville Cardinals’ secondary could be without their leader Jaire Alexander against the North Carolina Tar Heels this week.

Alexander left the Cardinals’ season-opening victory over Purdue early with a leg injury and didn’t return. He is listed as doubtful this week after entering this season as one of the Cardinals’ leaders on defense.

He did have one punt return for six yards in the game. Look for him to be replaced by cornerback Russ Yeast this week.

QB Jacob Eason, Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs got their season off to a winning start despite losing their starting quarterback Jacob Eason. Eason left the game early with a knee injury and did not return.

He is listed as week-to-week and is out for this week’s game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Jake Fromm did well in Eason’s place last week. He threw for 143 passing yards and a touchdown in his first game as a collegiate quarterback.

Fromm should have his hands full this week against the Fighting Irish.

RB Mike Weber, Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes could be without running back Mike Weber for another game. He missed their season opener nursing a hamstring injury and could miss this week’s game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

He is currently listed as probable.

J.K. Dobbins, who had a good game, was Weber’s replacement in Week One. He ran for 181 rushing yards on 28 carries in his debut game.

Dobbins could shoulder the load once more against the Sooners this week. He’ll need to be prepared as the game has College Football Playoff implications written all over it.

DT Elijah Taylor, Notre Dame

Notre Dame defensive tackle Elijah Taylor is listed as questionable this week as he continues to nurse a foot injury.

Taylor missed the Fighting Irish’ season opening game over the Temple Owls. Notre Dame still won 49-16 in his absence.

He has been working hard to fight his way back onto the football field after playing in four contests in 2016. His status is still up in the air this week as the team faces off against Georgia.

CB Jordan Parker, Oklahoma

Oklahoma Sooners cornerback Jordan Parker is out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in the first quarter of their season opening victory over UTEP.

Parker’s presence will be sorely missed in a secondary that lost most of it’s talent from a season ago.

He was expected to be a solid backup to Jordan Thomas and Parnell Motley.

He was injured on a special teams play. Parker will begin missing time this week when the Sooners face the Ohio State Buckeyes.

RB Kerryon Johnson, Auburn

The Auburn Tigers could be missed part of their 1-2 punch this week against the Clemson Tigers. Running back Kerryon Johnson is listed as questionable for this week’s contest after sustaining a hamstring injury against Georgia Southern.

Johnson ran for 136 rushing yards and a touchdown in Auburn’s season opener, but he left early.

Kamryn Pettway didn’t play in the Tigers’ opener due to suspension. He is set to return this week. He’ll be a huge need if Johnson is unable to go this week, although head coach Gus Malzahn is hoping for the best.
