1. Nebraska @ Oregon

4:30 pm ET, FOX

The Willie Taggart era got off to a hot start in Eugene in Week One. They defeated Southern Utah 77-21, setting a new record for most points scored in Autzen Stadium in the modern era.

Tony Brooks-James returned the game’s opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and the route was on for the Ducks. Oregon running back Royce Freeman ran for 150 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Justin Herbert went 17-of-21 for 281 passing yards and a passing touchdown. The Oregon Ducks offense put up over 700 yards of offense and scored 10 total touchdowns in the game.

The Ducks’ defense surrendered over 300 yards, but just 111 of those came in the second half against Southern Utah. They made adjustments and they largely worked as they allowed zero second half points.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers, on the other hand, struggled in their season opener against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. They got the victory 43-36, but Nebraska put on a poor showing overall, at home.

Arkansas State scored their first points on a 63-yard punt return before Nebraska wide receiver J.D. Spielman struck back with a 99-yard kickoff return of his own for a touchdown.

Nebraska’s defense finished with two interceptions but gave up 497 total yards of offense to a Sun Belt team. It doesn’t bode well for the Nebraska Cornhuskers as they travel to Eugene this weekend.

The Cornhuskers won last year’s meeting 35-32, but under a new regime, the Oregon Ducks have an opportunity to come out on top. Look for this game to move the Ducks out from under-the-radar and into the AP Poll ranks after this victory.
