As expected, Alabama football rolled the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday in front of a full house at Bryant-Denny Stadium. What did we learn about the team?
Alabama’s opening weekend game against Florida State was billed as a matchup of potential College Football Playoff teams. The Tide made relatively easy work of the Seminoles at the Chic-fil-A Kickoff game. In the process, Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois was injured and will miss the rest of the season.
Florida State’s championship dreams might already be over. Now the attention will go elsewhere to answer what is becoming an age-old question: “Can anyone beat Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide?”
Fresno State certainly could not. The Bulldogs are coming off a 66-0 shutout victory in Week 1 over Incarnate Word. After losing to the Tide on Saturday they’ll stay on the road and head to Washington, another College Football Playoff team from a year ago.
Alabama moves to 2-0 with wins over two very different teams. Their next game will come against a Colorado State team that likely is somewhere in between the talent level of these two squads.
The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 28-3 lead at half time and were able to coast to 41 to 10 victory. There wasn’t a lot of pomp and circumstance. The game had the air of another Saban squad taking care of business on their march to an SEC Title, and more.
Here’s what we learned about the Crimson Tide on Saturday.
