Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: South Florida (at-large) vs. Oklahoma State (at-large)
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, Ga.)
When: Jan. 1, 2018, at noon ET on ESPN
Last week’s projection: South Florida vs. Oklahoma State

Due to Hurricane Irma, South Florida’s game against UConn was cancelled this past week so there was no real movement in the Group of Five spot. The Bulls got some added help in the form of Saturday night’s marathon game between Boise State and Washington State.

Had Boise State won the game, it would’ve been slotted into the Peach Bowl but they did not and now South Florida has a clear path for a possible appearance. All the Bulls have to do is win out and they’re headed to Atlanta, yes I know it’s very early to make the claim but South Florida’s lone contender going down clears up their path to Atlanta much earlier than expected.

Oklahoma State is in a somewhat stalemate when it comes to having a chance to move in to CFP contention. The Cowboys dispatched South Alabama on Friday night and now they hit the road once again this week traveling to Pitt. Although Pitt may offer some what of an upset opportunity, look out for what happens over the next few weeks as the Cowboys enter Big 12 play.

Week 3 Impact: With the week off and still dealing with the aftermath of the Hurricane, it’s not impossible to see Illinois travel down and upset South Florida but I would expect the Bulls to win this week. However, if South Florida does lose then the battle for the Group of Five bid is back to square one and the Mountain West makes their case as they have multiple teams like San Diego State and Boise State with a chance to slide in.
