5. Ohio State will not play in the Big Ten Championship Game

Entering the 2017 campaign, Ohio State was the favorite to win the Big Ten Championship. With some of the most talented returning starters of any team in the country, the Buckeyes were even a popular pick to win the national title.

While this loss did not come at the hands of a Big Ten foe, it has a ton of significance in terms of the College Football Playoff. This now leaves zero room for error for Ohio State for the rest of the regular season.

To make the playoff, Ohio State now has to win out and take home the Big Ten title. There’s going to be nothing now happening to Ohio State like what happened last year with they got in the Playoff field without winning the Big Ten Championship.

Considering how good other Big Ten teams like the Penn State Nittany Lions, Wisconsin Badgers, and Michigan Wolverines all look right now, Ohio State needs a big performance in the next few games to build some momentum back up.
