4. JT Barrett is not clutch enough when it matters

Ohio State star senior quarterback J.T. Barrett had himself quite the performance in Week 1 against the Indiana Hoosiers. Barrett racked up more than 360 total yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in the season opener.

Things went downhill for Barrett and the Buckeyes in Week 2. Oklahoma’s defense was supposed to be improved from one season ago, but no one expected what they saw over the weekend. Ohio State got in the end zone only once from a J.K. Dobbins touchdown run.

This is starting to become a concerning trend for Barrett against top tier competition. It’s starting to seem like the success correlation between Barrett and the Buckeyes since he started his college career in 2014 are not a coincidence.

The fact that Barrett has not won a national championship as a starter could have been wiped out with a title run in 2017. However, he came up with a disappointing effort against the Sooners. He threw for less than 200 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.
