3. J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber will carry the offense

With Barrett struggling to take command of the offense facing the Sooners, true freshman running back J.K. Dobbins and sophomore Mike Weber took over the bulk of the load. Dobbins managed the only touchdown for Ohio State on the night.

Weber’s return signifies some hope for the Buckeyes. He’s solid in both the run and passing game and gives Ohio State a versatile weapon to work with when he’s on the field. He also adds a good one-two punch with Dobbins.

Ohio State was held to under 350 yards. Giving more work to Dobbins and Weber could help open up the offense and ease Barrett into bigger games like this. They only got 16 carries combined, largely because of the deficit in the second half.

When the Buckeyes face inferior competition, the rushing attack tends to take over. It could be a great way to start getting this team trending in the right direction to have Dobbins and Weber dominate in their matchup next week.
