Texas Tech was the only Big 12 team to have a Bye Week last week. In Week 3, they face the Arizona State Sun Devils in what should be an extremely high-scoring game. We’ll see quarterback Nic Shimonek’s continued progress against a quality opponent.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury is fighting for his job as he’s on the hottest seat of any Big 12 coach. Texas Tech looked good in their season opener against Eastern Washington. Yet, it’s a completely different story when you play a Power Five team.

The Texas Longhorns responded about as well as they possibly could after their Week 1 defeat against the Maryland Terrapins. Texas defeated the San Jose State Spartans by a 56-point margin to build some momentum for first-year head coach Tom Herman entering the USC game.

True freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger played well and that leaves Herman with a decision to make. Sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele seems like the obvious choice but Ehlinger did come up huge when called upon.

The West Virginia Mountaineers got exactly the effort they needed in a strong response after their close defeat against the Virginia Tech Hokies in Week 1. Florida transfer quarterback Will Grier tossed five touchdowns on the day.

West Virginia faces their easiest opponent of the season in Delaware State this week. It’ll be another easy one for the Mountaineers as they prepare for the start of Big 12 play in Week 4 against the Kansas Jayhawks.
