Week 2 of the college football season is in the books and we head into Week 3, here’s what we learned from Saturday’s action.

As we wrap a bow on the second week of the college football season, we are starting to see things shift as we make the transition into conference play. The Group of Five seems to be settling much earlier than expected, the Big 12 is looking stronger outside of just Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

However, here are the three biggest things that I took away from week two of the college football season.

3. You’ll have to pull the Heisman from Jackson’s cold, dead, hands

Yes, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and many of the other Heisman contenders have made their case when it comes to being Heisman front runners in 2017 but there’s one name that wasn’t getting as much love as most thought or even wanted to put in the conversation to start the season. Even if he had won it the year before.

Even with it being the second game of the season, many people including myself wondered how Lamar Jackson would do when it comes to how would he play in 2017. Well, after almost 400 yards in the air and over 130 years on the ground it was clear that Lamar Jackson is still a Heisman front runner. He will have an even tougher test coming this week against Clemson at home.

Last week the Tigers offense shut down Auburn’s potent offense by holding the SEC foe to just 38 yards on the ground and six points total. In October 2016’s showdown, the Cardinals signal caller amassed 295 in the air and 162 on the ground. If he can come close to that in the 2017 contest and the Cardinals end up winning then we can seriously start talking about a possible Heisman repeat already. It’s going to take a Jackson-like effort to take away the Heisman Trophy away from Lamar Jackson.
