College Football: 3 starting QBs who won’t survive 2017 season
Playing quarterback for a national power is a tough business. Read about three signal callers that won’t survive college football’s 2017 season
Quarterbacks come and go for a variety of reasons. Sometimes a freshman or backup beats out a veteran; remember back just a few short years to Clemson’s Deshaun Watson beating out Cole Stoudt, Tommy Rees giving up his spot to Everett Golson at Notre Dame and Sam Darnold replacing Max Browne at USC.
In others instances injuries are inevitable behind certain offensive lines and guys pull a Lou Gehrig and never give the job back. Examples would be Ryan Williams and Brad Kaaya in Miami, Jerry Colquitt and Todd Helton being injured to allow Peyton Manning in the game at Tennessee, Tony Rice coming in for Terry Andrysiak in South Bend, and Kenny Dorsey replacing a beat up Kenny Kelly in Miami against Virginia Tech back in 1999.

Jones entered 2015 as the starter and eventually gave way to Barrett before entering the NFL Draft.
