LSU finds themselves moving up to the number two spot in the SEC after their win over Chattanooga. But they also find themselves here because Auburn lost their game to Clemson. Even then, perhaps LSU did deserve to be here, their offense certainly looks better than Auburn in the early season.

LSU has looked great on defense in two consecutive games and the offense has done its part as well. Something that wasn’t always present in prior seasons. Derrius Guice has continued to be an excellent back, with 102 yards and two touchdowns. Danny Etling continues to impress with a good outing to the tune of 227 yards passing and a touchdown to go with it. If LSU can keep this same level of play going throughout the season, then there’s no reason they won’t be in thick of the hunt for the SEC West title.

I know, I know it gets repetitive to always see Alabama at the top of the SEC, right? Well in order to change that some team will have to beat them one day but until that day, here the Crimson Tide are. Alabama faced their first of two straight Mountain West teams in Fresno State and they dominated the game much as how most people expected.

Jalen Hurts was on fire in the game, especially on his rushing TD that opened the scoring for Alabama. In fact, Hurts finished as the leading rusher for the game with 154 on the ground. Hurts also added 128 yards through the air. The Alabama defense was as good as always, but that’s expected to some degree right? Needless to say, with the win, Alabama continued to show why their the best team in the SEC and the country and I don’t see that changing soon.
