Big 12 Football 2017: 5 teams on upset alert in Week 3
TCU faces a much easier opponent than they did one week ago. However, the SMU Mustangs are still a tough out for a Group of Five conference team. SMU put up some points in their first two games of the season and will give the TCU defense a tough test.
The Frogs are a 19-point favorite and that should hold up. However, if quarterback Kenny Hill starts turning the ball over, it could be a long day for head coach Gary Patterson trying to keep his defense together.
SMU put up 112 points in their first two games and have a quarterback in Ben Hicks that is having himself a breakout season. Running back Xavier Jones is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and is a good change of pace for Hicks and the SMU offense.
If TCU isn’t careful, then SMU could end up giving them a real run for their money. The Frogs should be able to take care of business without a problem as they return home to Amon G. Carter Stadium this weekend.
