Texas A&M Football: 3 reasons the 2-quarterback system won’t work
2. Aggies need to find a starter before the Arkansas game
Texas A&M starts their SEC slate on Sept. 23 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. While Arkansas might not be a contender in the SEC West this year they should still make a bowl game at least. They’ll be a tough out for the Aggies either way, and might even be the favored team.
Behind a solid effort from Trevor Knight and the defense last year, Texas A&M defeated the Razorbacks by a 21-point margin. That really showed the potential of this Aggie offense when there’s an efficient quarterback running it.
With no consistency to be found on the offense this year, the run game has suffered. There’s tremendous talent between Kendall Bussey, Trayveon Williams, and Keith Ford. However, it’s hard to tap into an efficient ground game when opposing defenses can load the box on most plays.
The best weapon on the Texas A&M offense, wide receiver Christian Kirk, is no maxing out his potential either. Kirk is an All-American and possible first round NFL Draft pick type talent and this could be hurting his draft stock. The Aggies need to find a starter within the next week.
