With nine matchups between undefeated FBS teams in Week 3, it is inevitable that somebody will lose. Here are five Power Five teams that will suffer defeat.

Early in the season, there is always a winnowing process as teams lose their first games of the season. The fun really comes when undefeated teams begin to face one another after a few weeks. No two elimination games are quite the same, and thus this weekend should be incredibly fun to watch.

Nine games on the Week 3 schedule pair up teams that have yet to suffer a loss. These undefeated duels are guaranteed to leave one team walking away dissatisfied. Some will probably end up being blowouts, while others offer the opportunity to see tight contests go down to the wire.

Last week, some of the undefeated teams to fall included Auburn, Stanford, and Ohio State. Washington State needed triple overtime to prevent a stumble against Boise State. The risk of that first defeat is very real, and could be lurking around any corner. And even though it doesn’t guarantee that the season is destined to disappoint, it nevertheless ends the loftiest of goals for most teams.
