NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 2
Two years ago, the Chicago Bears made what could be considered a “risky” pick by choosing West Virginia wide out Kevin White No. 7 overall. He was arguably the top receiver in the class, but little did the Bears’ front office know, he was one of the most injury-prone players as well.
For the third year in a row, White has suffered an injury and Chicago has been spread thin at the position in 2017. He was expected to have a bigger role with Alshon Jeffery headed to Philadelphia and Cameron Meredith also on injured reserve.
The Bears drafted their “franchise” quarterback in North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky in 2017 and that leaves options for the team in 2018. Running back is set, but the defense could use work. However, receiver may be the most important.
If Kevin White is unable to return healthy next season, picking Christian Kirk in the first round would be a safe bet. He’s a speedy slot guy and can be a 100-reception wide out at the next level. He has strong hands and doesn’t lack confidence. The 5-foot-11 receiver has 174 receptions for 2,044 yards and 17 touchdowns in his three-year Texas A&M career.
