1. Nate Starks has breakout game in place of Soso Jamabo

Senior running back Nate Starks has had an up and down career as a backup with UCLA. In place of the injured starter Soso Jamabo, Starks got the bulk of the workload out of the backfield last week. If Jamabo misses action again this week, then Starks will get the start again.

Last week, Starks rushed for 42 yards on seven carries. He maintained a good average for yards per carry and could have put up a good amount of rushing yards if Rosen didn’t have command of an efficient passing game.

If UCLA does jump out to an early lead, then they could rely on Starks to take the game over. He’s a versatile back that can catch passes as well. That’s a deadly combination with a quarterback like Rosen who reads the field so well.

The Bruins have not had to rely on the run game too much yet. Rosen dominated the game against Hawaii in Week 2 and UCLA had to make a huge comeback against the Texas A&M Aggies in Week 1. This is the time for Starks to shine.
