4. Matt Rhule’s defense hangs tough

One of the few things that could actually end up improving very quickly for the Bears is the toughness of their defense. Under former head coach Art Briles, Baylor’s calling card was never their defense.

Rhule made it a staple at Temple to put defenses out on the field that could hang tough with any opponent. Whether it be Penn State, Notre Dame, or even South Florida, the Owls’ defense gave opponents all they could handle under Rhule.

Duke has shown to have a very good offense this year. Yet, the last two years has not been friendly to the Blue Devils on that side of the ball. Maybe they just got lucky through two weeks or had a good burst of momentum. More than likely, they will be good for most of the season.

If Rhule does his homework, he’ll know how to defeat the versatile offenses of Duke head coach David Cutcliffe. It will not be easy, but Baylor can stop this team and at least give their offense a few chances to pull ahead early in the contest.
