The South Carolina Gamecocks and head coach Will Muschamp have quietly won their first two games of the season and nobody is talking about it yet.

The Gamecocks went to Missouri on the road and got their first victory in SEC football play last week, 31-13. Quarterback Jake Bentley went 18-of-28 with 187 passing yards, connecting with wide receiver Hayden Hurst for a touchdown.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is also another Gamecocks’ player watch on offense. He’s slowly becoming one of the top receivers in SEC football, or at least he should be before it’s all said and done.

Samuel had five receptions for 45 receiving yards and also a 25-yard run for a touchdown against the Tigers.

The Kentucky Wildcats look to put the Gamecocks on the ropes this week by pulling off the unlikely upset. As the road team, things won’t be easy but at 2-0 themselves, Kentucky looks ready to turn a corner in conference play as well.

Their opponents (Eastern Kentucky and Southern Mississippi) haven’t quite met their level of talent but South Carolina is the perfect start to their SEC football schedule.

The Gamecocks have lost their last three meetings with the Wildcats, losing each game by a possession. Head coach Mark Stoops could steal one on the road here, look for Kentucky to put South Carolina to the test this week.
