SEC Football 2017: 5 teams on upset alert in Week 3
This one is an upset alert in favor of SEC’s Vanderbilt.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are off to quite the start under head coach Derek Mason. They won their season opener convincingly 28-6 over Middle Tennessee State. Then last week, they shut out the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, 42-0.
The bar is set a whole lot higher for them this week when they face the 18th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats, but they could be up for pulling off the upset.

The Commodores have enjoyed a nearly perfect season so far from quarterback Kyle Shurmur. Shurmur has thrown seven touchdown passes and no interceptions with 498 passing yards this season.
Running back Ralph Webb is also playing well. He’s ran for 103 rushing yards and two touchdowns so far through two games.
The Kansas State Wildcats, on the other hand, have put up 55 points on offense in each of their two games so far this season.
Quarterback Jesse Ertz has thrown for 511 passing yards and four touchdown passes. He also hasn’t thrown an interception yet this year.
First one to turn the ball over loses, or at least, that’s how it works in theory. These two teams have two untested defenses for the most part but both should face huge challenges this week.
SEC football could be singing Vanderbilt’s praises before it’s over, crazier things have happened.
