USC Football: 3 bold predictions for Week 3 bout vs. Texas
By Zach Bigalke
2. Chris Warren III will run rampant against USC defense
In the season-opening loss to Maryland, Chris Warren III had a rough day at running back. But he was not alone, as the Longhorns finished with just 98 total rushing yards on 31 carries. Warren led the team with 31 yards on six carries as the junior split carries in the backfield. He also caught two passes for 19 yards, finishing the day with 50 total yards of offense in limited play.
Once he was given more opportunities to tote the rock against San Jose State, Warren seized the chance. He piled on 166 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and added another 23 yards on a pair of receptions. The running back will get a chance to put up big numbers again when he takes on a USC defense ranked 109th nationally in rushing defense.
The Trojans front seven has struggled to contain opposing rushers. Western Michigan put up 263 rushing yards as a team, as LeVante Bellamy led the way with 102 yards on just nine carries. In the Week 2 contest against Stanford, USC allowed Bryce Love to churn out 160 yards and a score on 17 carries.
For the third straight week, a running back will put up over 100 yards on the Trojans. With big questions at quarterback for the Longhorns, Warren will get plenty of carries against a team prone to getting beat on the ground.
