3. ACC, Big Ten, and PAC-12 could cannibalize themselves

Since the fall of Ohio State and Florida State, the Playoff picture has become a bit more blurry. The Big 12 really has two competitors at the top and then a few good teams in the middle of the conference. However, the PAC-12, ACC, and Big Ten have quite a few teams that could compete for the conference titles.

The Big Ten has Ohio State still in competition with the Michigan Wolverines, Wisconsin Badgers, and Penn State Nittany Lions. Wisconsin has an easy path to the Big Ten Championship Game but Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State do not. The chances that a Big Ten team gets out of conference play unscathed is very small.

The ACC had their title favorite fall in Week 1 and their star quarterback is now out for the season. Clemson, Louisville, Miami, and Virginia Tech could all win the conference. Upsets will happen in the ACC this year. Even Clemson lost to Pitt last year.

And it’s hard to tell if the USC Trojans or Washington Huskies will take the PAC-12 Championship this year. Both teams do not meet during the regular season. And, the Oregon Ducks, Washington State Cougars, and Colorado Buffaloes all look solid as well.
