In the Battle for the Iron Skillet against SMU, the Horned Frogs looked in danger of going on upset alert for a while against their Metroplex rivals from Dallas. But eventually TCU pulled away for a comfortable 56-36 win at home on Saturday, preserving their position among the top 20 in the AP Top 25.

The Horned Frogs paced themselves to victory thanks to 365 yards and four passing touchdowns from Kenny Hill. The Texas A&M transfer completed 24 of his 30 passing attempts, an 80-percent completion rate that helped TCU moved the ball efficiently downfield on the Mustangs. On 49 carries, the Honred Frogs racked up 254 yards on the ground, led by Darius Anderson with 89 yards and Kyle HIcks with 84 yards.

While the Oklahoma schools remain the favorites in the Big 12 race, TCU is quietly climbing up in the conference pecking order. Gary Patterson‘s team should vault up into the teens of this week’s AP Top 25 after another big win in Week 3.
