We’re through three weeks of the college football season and upsets were aplenty. See where your team stands in the current AP Poll landscape in this week’s edition of winners and losers.
Week 3 produced some interesting outcomes as a few Power Five teams were pushed to the brink. In the SEC, two ranked teams fell. The 12th-ranked LSU Tigers got thumped, 37-7, on the road in their conference opener against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The 24th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers lost on a final Hail Mary play to the 23rd-ranked Florida Gators in their conference opener. Also don’t look now, but the Kentucky Wildcats are 3-0 and 1-0 in the SEC after defeating a solid South Carolina Gamecocks football team, 23-13.
In the Pac-12, the 19th-ranked Stanford Cardinal fell for the second-straight week, this time to the San Diego State Aztecs on the road. The 25th-ranked UCLA Bruins lost in ugly fashion to the Memphis Tigers, 48-45, on the road. The Tigers got the upset victory in what was a good old-fashioned shootout. The fourth-ranked USC Trojans survived a scare of their own against the Texas Longhorns. They won 27-24 in double-overtime thanks to walk-on freshman kicker Chase McGrath.
Then in the ACC, second-ranked Clemson exerted their dominance once again, going to 14th-ranked Louisville and crushing them 47-21 in their conference opener.
Here’s a look at this week’s winners and losers as the Week 4 AP Poll results are out.
