ACC Football Power Rankings 2017: Virginia Tech on rise in Week 4

The NC State Wolfpack had an easy week as they faced the Furman Paladins, a winless FCS squad. The Wolfpack defense forced three turnovers and held them to 329 total yards in the game.

The NC State offense ran for 242 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Jaylen Samuels led the way with three rushing touchdowns on just 16 total rushing yards. He also had 75 receiving yards.

The Wolfpack allowed the Paladins to score the first points of the game in the form of a field goal, then never looked back after that.

This week, they’ll face 12th-ranked Florida State on the road in their ACC opener.

The North Carolina Tar Heels got their first victory of the season on the road against Old Dominion this week.

The Tar Heels got a much-needed 53-23 victory over the Monarchs behind 511 total yards of offense. Running back Jordon Brown had his first career 100-yard rushing game with 125 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Chazz Surratt ran for two touchdowns and threw for another touchdown, behind 257 passing yards on the day.

It was a positive day for the Tar Heels on both sides of the ball. The defense allowed just 14 first downs and held Old Dominion to 3-of-16 on third down conversions.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons remain undefeated in 2017, this time taking down the Utah State Aggies, 46-10.

It’s the third-straight week the Wake Forest defense has allowed 10 points or less. They allowed just 267 total yards and 11 first downs on the day.

The Demon Deacons led 29-0 at halftime.

Quarterback John Wolford was 12-for-22 with 242 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Running back Arkeem Byrd had 19 carries for 120 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Demon Deacons offense continues to show strides as it put up 588 total yards of offense. They’ll get another good test this week against Appalachian State.

The Duke Blue Devils remain undefeated this season as well after their 34-20 victory over the Baylor Bears. Baylor sits at 0-3 on the year.

The Blue Devils trailed 7-0 after an early fumble by running back Shaun Wilson, but after that, they retook the lead and never faltered.

The Duke defense held the Bears to nine first downs and 1-of-12 on third down conversions. They forced four turnovers as well.

Baylor had just 263 passing yards and 57 rushing yards in the game.

Shaun Wilson had 18 carries for 176 rushing yards and two scores to lead the offense. Running back Brttain Brown had 18 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown as a reserve.
