4. LB Tuf Borland

The Ohio State Buckeyes’ defense took a hit when it lost linebacker Chris Worley early in the game. However, Buckeye fans had nothing to fear as Tuf Borland stepped up big in his place. With a name like Tuf, you’re bound to find yourself playing on defense and making tackles.

The “next man up” mentality seemed to work just fine for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Linebacker Tuf Borland, a redshirt freshman, stepped in for his first taste of the gridiron and fared well. Borland finished the game with 11 tackles, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry in the Buckeyes’ 38-7 defeat of Army.

He seized his opportunity to excel and probably earned himself some more playing time in the process. Borland, a 6-foot-1, 229-pound linebacker, redshirted the 2016 season although he enrolled in January 2016. He was a four-star prospect in the 2016 recruiting class out of Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Whether he plays a bigger role this week remains to be seen, but having him in a reserve role isn’t a bad idea for Urban Meyer and company.
