Running back Travon McMillian didn’t have a 100 yards rushing in the game but he found a way to make a play when the ball was thrown his way.

McMillian had just one reception in the game but he took it 70 yards for a score. He finished the game with 11 carries and 72 rushing yards out of the backfield, but his big play through the air kept the offense buzzing.

McMillian hasn’t had a big season rushing since racking up 1,043 rushing yards as a freshman back in 2015, but that hasn’t stopped him from evolving with the Hokies’ offense.

As the passing game continues to develop, McMillian has found his niche as a decoy for play-action, a receiving option out of the backfield and as a blocker in the passing game.

It was McMillian’s second touchdown reception of the season and his sixth career touchdown catch. As the season moves forward, look for McMillian to emerge as a playmaker for this offense.
