Quarterback Josh Jackson joined some good company in his third game as the Virginia Tech Hokies’ starter. He became the first 3-0 starter for the Hokies since Logan Thomas did it back in 2011.

The redshirt freshman quarterback threw for 372 passing yards and five passing touchdowns on his way to setting a new career-high in passing yards and tying a school record for most passing touchdowns in a game.

The record was tied last season by former starter Jerod Evans who threw for five touchdowns against Boston College in September 2016, ironically in the same time frame.

Jackson still has yet to throw an interception this season (knock on wood) and continues to be an efficient passer for the Hokies’ offense. He went 24-of-31 in the game, a 77.4 percent completion rate.

The offense will need some fine-tuning but its looking ready to face a tough Clemson Tigers’ defense in a few weeks. Let’s see how they respond this week against Old Dominion.
