This was supposed to be the year that Kansas State competed at the top of the Big 12 standings again. Quarterback Jesse Ertz fell just short of the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road in a heartbreaking seven-point loss.

We have yet to see Kansas State rack up one quality victory yet. Vanderbilt was their first chance and they failed on the road. They have the week off and turn their attention to their conference opener in Week 5 against Baylor.

It’ll be Week 6 until we see Kansas State have a chance to get a victory over a quality opponent when they travel to Austin to face the Longhorns. Head coach Bill Snyder’s days in Manhattan seem to be coming to an end before he decides to retire. Kansas State could still recover from this but they have an uphill battle ahead.
