2. Mike Gundy is the best coach in the Big 12

Since the retirement of legendary Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy could currently own the title of best in the Big 12. First-year Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley is an appealing candidate as well.

Next to Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder, Gundy is also the longest-tenured. The combination of proven experience and current talent to work with on the roster puts Gundy in a great position to have one of the biggest impacts on the college football world among coaches this year.

Gundy has become a marketing icon for this Oklahoma State football program. Whether it be his mullet, weird marketing promos, or “Big Daddy” mug, Gundy has garnered national attention for his unique personality.

Overcoming the Sooners is the final obstacle in Gundy’s way before he can claim the title of best head coach in the conference. Defeating the Sooners would also put Oklahoma State in prime position for the Playoff.
