1. Toledo will upset the Hurricanes

Since the turn of the decade many people before every season starts says, “The U is back”, and every season they normally disappoint. They haven’t had a 10-win season in this decade, but they have the aura of a great program so everybody gives them the benefit of doubt until they fall flat on their faces.

Last season they were 9-4 in the first year of Mark Richt’s tenure. The former Georgia head coach has brought hope back to Coral Gables, but against Toledo they will lose in an out of conference battle. I know Richt wasn’t the coach during this current downfall, but until they prove us wrong this is the narrative.

Let’s go back in memory lane, in 2015 Cincinnati beat them, 2014 Nebraska also, 2012 Kansas State, 2011 Maryland and  Kansas State and, in 2010, Ohio State. I know most of these teams are top notch, but what they all have in common is they are non conference foes who beat Miami.

I’m not just blindly picking Toledo, they have one of the better quarterbacks in college football in senior Logan Woodside, the kid has been spinning the rock the last two years with the best of them and he is going to grab a signature win on Saturday.

Sorry Canes fans, my bold prediction is The U isn’t back and Woodside and Co. will prove it.
